Mesothelioma Victims Center Creates Tip Sheet to Help Victims Get the Best Compensation

Victims of mesothelioma are being urged by the Mesothelioma Victims Center to obtain the best possible representation to help them get the best possible compensation. The Mesothelioma Victims Center has found that there have been too many victims who have not received adequate compensation for their illness. With over 20 years of experience and a proven track record of success, Connelly and Vogelzang LLC has the resources and experience of a large firm, but dedicate themselves to mesothelioma victims and give them individualized and personal attention. The Mesothelioma Victims Center’s tips contain a decade’s worth of their experience with helping diagnosed victims to get the best compensation available. They are dedicated to helping victims and their families and in order to give them the most help possible, they want to help families make certain that they are hiring the most qualified mesothelioma attorney to ensure that they will receive the best compensation.

The first tip that they offer is to make sure that your attorney has at least 10 years’ experience with mesothelioma claims on a full-time basis and they also recommend that you ask for references from families that the attorney has represented within the past six months. You want to make sure that your attorney is experienced and has clients who were happy with the outcome of their claim. Another tip is to make sure that your mesothelioma lawyer is the same lawyer who will be with you through the entire mesothelioma compensation claim. If you have to change attorneys at some point in the process, they do not know your case as well and you cannot be sure that you are getting an attorney who has you as their primary focus. Victims of mesothelioma can rest easy when they obtain the representation of Connelly and Vogelzang LLC.

We have over 20 years of experience in representing clients who have been diagnosed with mesothelioma. They will answer any question you may have about the legal process and your attorney will be with you every step of the way. Their firm works exclusively to represent mesothelioma victims, so you can be sure their focus and attention is always on what is happening in this area of the law.

NNPA President Dr. Benjamin Chavis Says Reginald Lewis Film Offers Transcendent Message for Millennials at Cannes Film Festival – The Charleston Chronicle

Dr. Benjamin F. Chavis, the president and CEO of the National Newspaper Publishers Association, co-hosted an event celebrating international filmmakers and the European premiere of a documentary about the life and legacy of Reginald F. Lewis, America’s first Black billionaire, during the Cannes Film Festival in France. Dr.

Chavis joined Loida Nicolas-Lewis, the widow of Reginald F. Lewis, and Ken Naz of MariKen Productions in hosting the affair at the Le Majestic Beach on Wednesday, May 16. Lewis attended Virginia State University then Harvard Law School and worked in corporate law after he graduated. He helped to establish the first African American law firm on Wall Street. In 1983, he launched TLC Group, L.P.

and organized the $22.5 million leveraged buyout of McCall Pattern Company, according to his official biography. According to his biography, Lewis then outmaneuvered Citicorp to acquire Beatrice Foods, which included 64 companies in 31 countries; the deal was worth $985 million, the largest leveraged buyout of overseas assets by an American company at that time. In the documentary, Ken Chenault, the former CEO of American Express, said that Lewis’s success helped to pave the way for many African American businessmen and women on Wall Street. Lewis was not only an incredibly successful businessman, he also gave back to the Black community in extraordinary ways. Lewis represented The Wilmington Ten, a group of political prisoners, who were wrongfully convicted in 1971 of firebombing a White-owned grocery store in Wilmington, N.C.

Dr. Chavis, who was a 24 year-old civil rights leader with the New York-based Commission for Racial Justice, at the time, was one of the Wilmington Ten, and credited Lewis with helping to get their convictions overturned by the federal appeals court in 1980 and ultimately championing the eventual exonerations of the group. Dr. Chavis said that he has personal and professional interests in the promotion of the documentary. The NNPA announced plans to screen the Reginald Lewis documentary at their annual conference in Norfolk, Va., in June.

Dr. Chavis said that the Reginald Lewis documentary sends a powerful message to young people of color to never settle for the realities of poverty and injustice that exist today.

I-526 westbound bridge remains closed for assessment > SC Biz News

A snapped cable discovered inside the Interstate 526 bridge over the Wando River led officials to close the westbound lanes of the bridge Monday, creating major traffic congestion throughout the Lowcountry. S.C. Department of Transportation officials said the westbound portion of the James B. Edwards Bridge will be closed to traffic for at least 48 hours to assess the issue and create a repair plan. The bridge closure could continue past Wednesday, depending on the findings and how long repairs will take.

DOT officials discovered the damaged cable during an inspection; they said they do not know what caused the cable to snap. In the meantime, drivers can detour by taking U.S. Highway 17 North to S.C. Highway 41 to Clements Ferry Road and back to Interstate 526; or U.S. Highway 17 South to the Arthur Ravenel Jr.

Bridge to Interstate 26 westbound. The S.C. Ports Authority has also adjusted gate terminal times at the Wando Welch Terminal, the state’s busiest container terminal, to help alleviate traffic in the area. The terminal sits along Long Point Road off Interstate 526. The latest gate hours for truck drivers are available online.

Colvin said the DOT typically inspects every bridge in the state at least once every two years, but Interstate 526’s eastbound and westbound bridges have been assessed weekly since October 2016, when an inspection program revealed water intrusion and deterioration of some cables. DOT officials are working with local law enforcement agencies, including the Mount Pleasant and Charleston police departments, to reroute traffic. Mount Pleasant Police Chief Carl Ritchie said stoplight schedules will be overruled as needed along detour routes. Officials called for drivers to remain calm and patient.
